Jan speaks in Adelaide!
Key note speech delivered by Janne (Jan) Clara Lindrum at the preeminent billiards and snooker facility in the Southern Hemisphere known as ‘The Venue’.
The home of Snooker South Australia and an Academy of Excellence, ‘The Venue’ in Richmond is owned and operated by Chris Wignall, Managing Director of private company McCue in conjunction with the Billiards & Snooker Association of South Australia.
‘The Venue’ is an immaculate room with twelve brand new Shender tables.
Billiards and snooker are precision sports aimed at the Olympics. They are sports of Science,
Mathematics and Art.
To my family, the billiard room was their temple.
An important point omitted from this speech was that my father Horace Lindrum with British Champion Willie Smith of Darlington were first to put cue sports onto television in an experimental series filmed at the Alexandra Palace in London in 1937.
Join Janne Lindrum as she chats to Sarah Kanowski on ABC’s Conversations with Richard Fidler
As Sarah Kanowski sits in Richard Fidlers chair for 5 weeks, her interview with Janne promises to unravel the Lindrums’ from Horace and Walter to Joy, Frederick and Clara and ultimately to author Janne Lindrum. The full circle of the Lindrum bloodlines that flow through ‘The Uncrowned King™’.
Tragically, Horace Lindrum’s calling was marred by tragedy, family upheavals, war and controversy but none of these obstacles stopped him from waving the Lindrum flag. Written in the style of Michael Ondaatje’s Running in the Family, The Uncrowned King™ is a pastiche that weaves in and out of people’s lives and histories. We go into the Lindrum household, meet each of the characters in their own worlds, get to know their personalities, watch them battle adversity, climb to great heights and perform dazzling feats.
