After completing an Arts degree at the University of Queensland, Sarah Kanowski won a scholarship to do a Masters Degree in English Studies at Oxford University where she wrote a thesis on the Mosley family (Oswald Mosley was the leader of the British Union of Fascists during the Second World War, and his son Nicholas is a novelist who also wrote a biography on his dad).
Sarah says: “Studying at Oxford opened up a whole new world of ideas.”
After two years of reading, thinking and writing she and her husband set off for South America.
After living, working and experiencing some incredibly exciting adventures in South America (including eating bush rat in the Amazon, walking through Patagonia and dancing the Tango in Buenos Aires), Sarah and her husband returned to Australia where she worked mainly as a producer for Late Night Live on Radio National in Sydney then, in 2012, she moved back to Brisbane, presenting Weekend Arts on Saturday afternoons on Radio National. Last year she spent time at home with new baby Felix and wondered afresh how on earth her parents raised seven children.
“Much of what got her through was listening to Conversations so she couldn’t be happier about stealing Richard’s desk and microphone for five weeks.” (Reference: www.abc.net.au)
